Dr. Mitchell was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and raised in an Air Force family, moving frequently throughout the country and around the world. Growing up in a military household instilled in her a deep sense of service, adaptability, and commitment to community. She has proudly called Alaska home for the past 10 years and feels fortunate to serve the community she and her family love.
About Dr. Mitchell
She earned her Ph.D. in bioanalytical chemistry from the University of New Mexico, along with her MD from the same institution in 2011, funded through the Air Force Health Professions Scholarship Program. She completed her residency in otolaryngology at the University of Nevada in 2016 and went on to serve on active duty at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson for four years. During the pandemic, she cared for veterans as a VA physician before transitioning into private practice in Wasilla in 2022. Dr. Mitchell is board certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology and remains dedicated to delivering thoughtful, patient-centered ENT care.
Dr. Mitchell is married to Jared, a lifelong Alaskan, and together they have three children: Grace (28), Verity (15), and Teddy (10). She and Grace co-own a ceramics business, a creative outlet that reflects her lifelong passion for the arts. An avid animal lover, she adores her two silver labs, Doc and Oliver, and affectionately refers to her home as a “revolving zoo” thanks to the small animals her children regularly bring home. With both her parents and in-laws also living in Alaska, family time is central to her life. Together they enjoy boating, fishing, and exploring the islands of Prince William Sound, as well as spending time at their off-grid cabin in Talkeetna.
