About Dr. Highland

Dr. Highland is an ear nose and throat physician who cares for patients of all ages and with a variety of conditions of the head and neck. Originally from Morrison, Colorado, she graduated summa cum laude from the University of Colorado Boulder.

Dr. Julie Highland, M.D.

After getting her Bachelor’s degree, she took several years off from school to volunteer abroad and work with underserved patients near her hometown in Denver, Colorado, during which time she became a certified Spanish medical interpreter. She went on to complete her medical degree at the University of Colorado Denver, and then completed her surgical training in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Utah. Dr. Highland has done medical mission work in Guatemala and Ghana, has multiple peer-reviewed research publications and book chapters, and has received awards for humanitarianism, excellent otologic surgical skills, high test scores and research.

Compassionate Care

Dr. Highland’s primary goal is to provide high-quality, compassionate care to the people of Alaska. She is interested in all aspects of ENT, including disorders of the ear and hearing, voice and airway disorders, salivary gland disorders, and benign and malignant conditions of the face, head and neck. While not at work, you can find her in the mountains hiking, biking or skiing.
