Dr. Christina Magill and Dr. E. Ritter Sansoni welcome Dr. Jennifer Mitchell to AFPENT in Anchorage. A dedicated otolaryngologist, Dr. Mitchell brings her advanced scientific training and extensive clinical experience to our practice. Her thoughtful, patient-centered approach aligns seamlessly with our philosophy. Having called Alaska home for the past decade, she is deeply committed to serving the community she and her family love.
A strong foundation in science and medicine
Dr. Mitchell earned her MD and PhD in bioanalytical chemistry from the University of New Mexico in 2011 through the Air Force Health Professions Scholarship Program. This dual-degree training provides her with a deep understanding of the science behind disease.
Her academic background continues to influence her clinical work today. By leveraging her scientific expertise and rigor with practical medical care, Dr. Mitchell evaluates complex ENT conditions with a comprehensive, evidence-based perspective.
Advanced training in ear, nose, and throat care
Following medical school, Dr. Mitchell completed her residency in otolaryngology at the University of Nevada in 2016. During this time, she developed expertise in diagnosing and treating a wide range of conditions affecting the ears, nose, throat, and related structures.
Her training includes both medical and surgical management of ENT disorders, enabling her to provide patients with individualized treatment plans. Whether addressing chronic sinus issues, airway concerns, or other ENT conditions, Dr. Mitchell focuses on achieving lasting, functional improvements that enhance quality of life.
A career shaped by service
Dr. Mitchell’s background in the Air Force has played a significant role in shaping her approach to patient care. After completing her training, she served four years on active duty at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, providing care to service members and their families.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, she continued her service as a physician within the VA system, caring for veterans during a critical time. These experiences reinforced her commitment to patient-first medicine and strengthened her ability to care for diverse individuals.
Dedicated to the Alaska community
Having lived in Alaska for the past 10 years, Dr. Mitchell has developed a strong connection to the local community. She understands the unique healthcare needs of Alaskans and is proud to provide care in a region she and her family deeply value.
Her decision to transition into private practice in Wasilla in 2022 reflects her desire to continue serving the community in a more personalized setting. At Alaska Facial Plastic Surgery & ENT, she looks forward to building lasting relationships and supporting her patients’ long-term health.

Life beyond the clinic
Outside of her practice, Dr. Mitchell leads an active life centered around family. She is married to her husband, Jared, a lifelong Alaskan, and together they have three children.
She also shares a creative passion with her daughter through a ceramics business. At home, she enjoys time with her two silver labs and a variety of small animals her family cares for.
In her free time, Dr. Mitchell and her family enjoy boating, fishing, and exploring Alaska’s natural beauty, including trips to Prince William Sound and to their off-grid cabin in Talkeetna.
